Fortunately there are certified car seat experts who can help you choose a car seat to fit your needs and also help install it properly. I recommend having your child’s car seat installed by a certified car seat expert. I also recommend having a car seat in each vehicle you use to transport your child and leaving it there. This will avoid inadvertently installing it incorrectly when moving it. Visit www.nhtsa.gov (the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration website) to learn how to have your child's car seat correctly installed, where to have it inspected and which car seats are rated the safest.

Heavy objects such as passengers who are not wearing seatbelts, dogs and boxes can be lethal, even in a low impact crash. Even smaller objects such as children’s toys or grocery items can cause serious injury. If an item is heavier than a small book or has sharp edges, play it safe and find a way to restrain it.
